Donna M. Swajeski Named Co-Headwriter
Effective Monday, July 21, 2003
Donna M. Swajeski will join Headwriter Ellen Weston on the writing team of Guiding Light as Co-Headwriter beginning July 21, 2003, it was announced today by Mary Alice Dwyer-Dobbin, Executive in Charge of Production for Procter & Gamble Productions, Inc., and John Conboy, the show’s Executive Producer. Swajeski previously worked for the show as a breakdown writer from 1999-2001.
“Donna’s insight and thorough knowledge of this genre and this show in particular make her the perfect candidate for this position,” said Mary Alice Dwyer-Dobbin. “We are thrilled Donna is returning to the Guiding Light family.”
“Donna is and extremely gifted writer who brings a new perspective and freshness to our already impressive team,” added John Conboy.
Swajeski began her career in daytime television as Director of Daytime Programs at ABC television, supervising story direction for All My Children, Loving, One Life to Live and General Hospital. Also responsible for ABC daytime on-air promotions, she developed the successful “Love in the Afternoon” campaign and the award-winning daytime game show promotion “Daytime Dilemma.”
In addition to her previous work on Guiding Light, Swajeski served for four years as the Headwriter of Another World. In that position, Swajeski received a Daytime Emmy nomination, and TV Guide Named Another World “Best Soap Opera.” Swajeski’s other television credits include co-creation of the Tri-Star late night soap, Up Against It, along with writing for the Red Show Dairies (Showtime) and Port Charles (ABC.)
Swajeski is also a published playwright, having received the National Arts and Letters Playwriting Award, and her works have been produced in New York City. The Hampton Chronicles, an Internet comedy that she produced and wrote, was named as one of the hottest cyber serials by the LA Times and Websight Magazine. Swajeski also authored the humorous cookbook, “Love in the Afternoon.”
